Riba, Bank Interest and the Rationale of its Prohibitionو ترجمه آن تحت عنوان، ربا، بهره بانکی و حکمت تحریم آن در اسلام، گرد آوری شده است.

Abstract

Nowadays, with the progress and spread of technology, technical texts play an important role in human life. The specific groups of people all over the world refer to these texts in order to be familiar with the subject and improve their knowledge in that domain. On the other hand, finding the best equivalent for technical items is a challenge for the technical translators.

The main aim of the present study was to explore Vinay and Darbelnet’s seven proposed strategies applied on the translation of economic technical terms, more specifically Islamic banking terms and accordingly to find out the most and the least frequently used strategies. Finding the frequency of other strategies, which are respectively obtained between these two most and least strategies from the most to the least used ones, is also the purpose of the study.

Applying a qualitative enquiry with descriptive approach, the corpus of the study contained 122 technical terms, collected from the book, Riba, Bank Interest and the Rationale of its Prohibition and its translation[1] from English into Persian.

After the analysis of data and calculating the frequency of each strategy, the researcher arrived at the conclusion that the third strategy named ‘literal translation’ was the most frequently used strategy (42.6%) by the translator and the last strategy, ‘adaptation’, was the least applied strategy with (1.6%) frequency. The other strategies used are listed in the present study along with the percentage of their usage.
